What is Krav Maga?
Krav Maga (“combat with contact” in Hebrew) is a tactical hand-to-hand combatives system that is extremely effective, highly intuitive and easy-to-learn. This system uses empty-handed techniques to defend against all types of attacks, weapons (such as knife, stick and firearm) and number of assailants. It is tactically-driven meaning that the best solution is dependent on all the circumstances of the situation, including timeline (how far away the assailants are), and environmental conditions like lighting, slippery surfaces, if escape is possible or location of exits and more.
IKMF Krav Maga is not simply about fighting. It is about making educated choices, and if at all possible to avoid danger. We therefore focus on the nature of confrontations in the real world, the conditions in which they occur, and the various methods for preventing and dealing with such situations. This program develops numerous life skills such as confidence and self-awareness, physical fitness and tactical strategy.
Did you know that Krav Maga is not a martial art?
Krav Maga is not a traditional martial art and is not intended to be an art form or a sport. It was originally designed by pulling the best techniques from different martial arts systems into a unified system and refined over decades into a highly efficient, practical, tactical system that has been proven on the street and the battlefield.
